Fall Sports Wrap-Up

As the weather gets colder and the threat of snow is merely weeks away, a handful of fall sports have handed in their equipment and have started to get ready for next season.


The men's soccer team finished their 2005 campaign with a record of 5-9-2, finishing 6th in the Empire 9 rankings.


The highlights of the season for the Pioneers had to be their 3-1 victory over local rival SUNYIT on October 3 and their 8-0 blowout overnSouthern Vermont College on September 28.


The Pioneers leading scorer was sophomore forward Evan Dufault with 28 points coming from 11 goals and 5 assists.


Junior Henry Bick had 20 points coming from 9 goals and 2 assists.


Sophomore Andrew Miller and junior Anthony DeSarro provided to be an excellent goalie tandem and racked up 106 saves total on the year.


The Pioneers will be returning many key players from their team and have high expectations for next year.


The women's tennis team finished their season with a record of 1-7.


The Lady Pioneers collected their one win of the season with a 6-3 win over Russel Sage College on September 11. The Lady Pioneers will be graduating 6 members from this year's squad, but still return several key players next year and are ready to get back on the courts next year and improve their record.


The volleyball team ended their season with a record of 8-22.


The Lady Pioneers rode a three-game winning streak from September 3 - 7 when they defeated St. Lawrence, Hilbert and Cazenovia, respectively. The Lady Pioneers also knocked off local rival SUNY twice at home by a combined score of 6-0 on September 10 and October 3.


The Lady Pioneers will graduate four seniors, but still return several key players from their team. With that, the Lady Pioneers look to improve their record next year.


Although some of the seasons may have ended, there are also a few fall sports that are about to enter the playoffs or finish their stretch run of the regular season.

The field hockey team won their final game of the regular season 5-2 by defeating SUNY New Paltz on November 1, improving their record to 12-4.


The Lady Pioneers will have to wait until this coming weekend to find out their playoff destiny.


This Sunday, the NCAA will be holding its selection for their tournament and this Monday, the ECAC will be doing their own selection. So the Lady Pioneers will have to wait and hope for the best to see when their next game is.

The women's soccer team ended their regular season on October 29 win over Vassar College.


The Lady Pioneers now stand at 11-5 on the year and are hosting the State Tournament this weekend. The Lady Pioneers will play at home this Saturday at 11:00 am.

The football team has two games remaining on their schedule, traveling to Norwich University on November 5 and hosting Hartwick College on November 12. The Pioneers are currently 4-4 and are hoping to improve their already record-breaking win amount in their final two games.
